But there is only so much sausage you can stuff. So in 1963 Cornell professor fessor Robert C. Baker started pressing the meat together with the choicer meat of the drumsticks, thighs and breasts into hot-dog shapes and test-marketed them as Bird Dogs. Voila! Processed chicken was born.
